Programa de Pós-Graduação em Engenharia ElétricaEste trabalho apresenta uma família de Inversores ZVS PWM com grampeamento ativo que utilizam um único interruptor auxiliar. As estruturas são particularmente simples e robustas. São muito atrativas para aplicações em acionamentos elétricos, UPS's e filtros ativos de alta potência. As perdas por comutação são reduzidas com a implementação de um circuito snubber simples e regenerativo que provém comutação ZVS para todos os interruptores. A interferência eletromagnética é reduzida com o controle das derivadas de corrente. A tensão sobre os interruptores é reduzida devido ao grampeamento ativo. Suas principais vantagens são: Estratégia de controle simples, robustez, baixo peso e volume, baixo conteúdo de distorção harmônica da corrente de saída, baixa interferência eletromagnética e alta eficiência.     Improved voltage control for the electric vehicle operation in V2H mode as an off-line UPS in the context of smart homes

    As a contribution for sustainability, electric vehicles (EVs) are seen as one of the most effective influences in the transport sector. This paper proposes an improved voltage control of the EV operating as uninterruptible power supply (UPS) in smart homes. With the EV plugged-in into the smart home, it can act as an off-line UPS protecting the electrical appliances from power grid outages. The foremost advantages of the proposed voltage control strategy are comprehensively emphasized, establishing a comparison with the classical approach. Aiming to offer a sinusoidal voltage for linear and nonlinear electrical appliances, a pulse width modulation with a multi-loop control scheme is used. A Kalman filter is used for decreasing significantly the time of detecting power outages and, consequently, the transition for the UPS mode. The computer simulations and the acquired experimental results validate the proposed strategy in different conditions of operation.This work has been supported by FCT – Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia within the Project Scope: UID/CEC/00319/2019.     A Control Strategy to Smooth Power Ripple of a Single-Stage Bidirectional and Isolated AC-DC Converter for Electric Vehicles Chargers

    This paper proposes a single-stage AC-DC rectifier with power factor correction (PFC), high-frequency isolation and bidirectional power conversion capability for on-board battery charger (OBC) applications. The proposed converter is based on the interleaving technique and the Dual Active Bridge (DAB) operation, applying the phase-shift control to regulate the power flow. In addition to topology, this article presents a control strategy for reducing low-frequency power ripples transferred to the secondary side without any additional component and hence maintaining overall size and cost. The single-phase OBC can interchange active power with the grid to charge batteries while performing grid-to-vehicle (G2V) functionality or transferring energy back to the grid via vehicle-to-grid (V2G) mode. The theoretical analysis of the converter including modulation strategy and feedback control scheme are presented. The proposed topology and control strategy have been verified by experimental results of a 650 W SiC-based prototype

    Coordinated Control of Active and Reactive Power Compensation for Voltage Regulation with Enhanced Disturbance Rejection Using Repetitive Vector-Control

    Voltage profile is one of many aspects that affect power quality in low-voltage distribution feeders. Weak grids have a typically high line impedance which results in remarkable voltage drops. Distribution grids generally have a high R/X ratio, which makes voltage regulation with reactive power compensation less effective than in high-voltage grids. Moreover, these networks are more susceptible to unbalance and harmonic voltage disturbances. This paper proposes an enhanced coordinated control of active and reactive power injected in a distribution grid for voltage regulation. Voltage drop mitigation was evaluated with power injection based on local features, such loads and disturbances of each connection. In order to ensure disturbances rejection like harmonic components in the grid voltages, a repetitive vector-control scheme was used. The injection of coordinated active and reactive power with the proposed control algorithm was verified through simulations and experiments, demonstrating that it is a promising alternative for voltage regulation in weak and low-voltage networks subject to inherent harmonic distortion
